Where do you work and what do you do
I'm currently a group lead and Business & Finance Marketing Specialist (Ad Sales) for The Kansas City Star.
Tell us about yourself
I've been with The Star for just over two years now. Prior to that I was the owner/publisher of a small B2B newspaper in Columbia called Mid-Missouri Business Journal.

In total I've been in the newspaper business for 12 years and was in the commercial office furniture industry before that.

I moved to Kansas City in 2004 to be closer to family and to help care for a family member.

I'm divorced with no children and still trying to figure out the social scene here.

In political terms I would describe myself as a fiscal conservative and socially a progressive/moderate.

My musical taste is quite varied. Although I do appreciate classical and chamber music my main listening habits are adult contemporary, alternative and classic rock. But at the same time I'm also a fan of blue grass and folk. As I said, quite varied.

I love to learn and keep up with current events. I'm typically a quiet and laid back person (I'm a people watcher) however I truly enjoy good conversation and a lively debate.

I have a strong entrepreneurial spirit and may soon follow that path again however I'm doubtfully it will be in the newspaper industry. I've also looked at maybe getting into the business coaching profession.

If not that, my education is in mechanical and architectural design. I'd like to maybe get back involved with a green/sustainability service of some sort.

With whatever I might do in the future, I'd like to get into something that makes a difference with a direct connect to a positive result.

This has got to stop or one of the strongest building blocks of our country is at risk of crumbling beneath us. (2) A strong nation builds things that others want. A country that is base… Continue
