The Explorers are gearing up for another great season!
July 2008 was the team’s most successful season in our 17 year history! We dominated on the courts and made our way to the 2008 Finals! Finishing the regular season 13-1, the best season on record in the history of WTT, we earned the Western Conference Champion title. The team headed to California for the Playoffs. We took on the Sacramento Capitals in the semi-finals. The team advanced to the finals, defeating the Capitals 21-10. In the finals we faced the New York Buzz. In an incredibly close match, the Buzz clinched their first Championship title. Despite our loss in the finals, the Explorers still finished with the best record of the 2008 season! Along with these amazing accomplishments, our season was full of exciting moments!
The Bryan Brothers returned for their fourth season with the Explorers, helping make us an unstoppable force on the courts. Both our men’s doubles team of Dusan Vemic and James Auckland, and women’s doubles team of Rennae Stubbs and Kveta Peschke completed the season ranked #1. Dusan and Rennae finished as the #1 mixed doubles team in the league. Coach Brent Haygarth won Coach of the Year and Rennae Stubbs won the league’s Most Valuable Player and the Most Valuable Player in the playoffs.
